Our garage floor coatings are much more than simple concrete paint. They are complete, multi-layer systems that include detailed surface-preparation, concrete repairs, decorative aggregates, and a protective clear coat. These system are longer-lasting – it’s not uncommon for people to get 15-20 years, or longer, out of our flooring systems!
We start by diamond-grinding the concrete to remove foreign materials and contamination. It also creates a textured profile for the coating to bond with – this prevents delamination failures and hot-tire peel. Next we perform repairs to cracks and damage, depending on the coating option you have selected.
Our base coat material is 100% solids epoxy. This material offers a much higher-build than concrete paint. Typically a decorative flake, or other aggregate, is broadcast into the wet epoxy. This gives the floor lots of color and contrast, and helps to conceal imperfections in the underlying concrete. When the wet material is fully-saturated with aggregate, it creates a much-thicker coating, and increases the durability.
For the clear coat, we use a material called polyaspartic urethane. This material offers excellent resistance to impact, abrasion, chemicals, and staining. It is also inherently uv-tolerant while epoxy and concrete paint are not. This material will keep the garage floor looking good for years and years to come!
