Discover the Joys of Living in Frisco, Texas
Frisco is a city in the Dallas-Ft. Worth metroplex, about 25 miles northeast of the DFW International Airport and 13 miles due east of Lewisville Lake. An outgrowth of the pioneer-era community known as Lebanon, Frisco takes its name from The St. Louis-San Francisco Railway which once ran through the area. The city straddles Collin and Denton counties and currently has a population of approximately 180,000—up from the 2010 census’ accounting of about 117,000 residents. Frisco was the fastest growing city in the country in 2017.
Frisco, like many cities in the DFW area, has its claims to fame; the first season of the hit TV show Dallas was filmed at Frisco’s Brinkmann Ranch (then called the Cloyce Box Ranch). The Dallas Cowboys are headquartered in Frisco, and as of 2003 the city has been designated “Tree City USA” by the National Arbor Day Foundation; as such, the city is home to numerous parks, both developed and undeveloped, which offer residents and tourists alike access to batting cages, dog areas, and skating areas, as well as other opportunites for outdoor recreation.
Frisco is also home to numerous sporting venues, an olympic size natatorium, and museums such as the Museum of the American Railroad and the National Video Game Museum.
Frisco has a highly lauded public education system, and five higher education institutes have campuses in the city. With its high median income, huge economic growth, and numerous chances for outdoor and cultural recreation, Frisco represents a considerable draw to the DFW area for both prospective residents and visitors to the metroplex.
