Polyaspartic is also what makes same-day installs possible. It cures significantly faster than epoxy alone, which means most residential jobs are done in a single day. That faster cure time is an advantage for homeowners, but it also means application requires a skilled installer. If the timing is off, the coating can cure before it’s properly applied. That’s why installer experience matters with polyaspartic coatings.
Quartz systems use a broadcast quartz aggregate for a more textured, heavy-duty finish. If you’re doing a lot of heavy work in the garage or just want something that can take serious abuse, quartz is worth considering.

The answer you want is diamond grinding. This is a mechanical process that grinds the concrete surface to open its pores, remove contaminants, and create the surface profile needed for the coating to bond properly. It’s not glamorous, but it’s the single biggest factor in whether your floor lasts 15 years or peels in 18 months.
Some contractors, especially those offering very low bids, skip this step and use acid etching instead. It’s cheaper and faster, but it doesn’t produce nearly the same bond. If a contractor isn’t diamond grinding, that’s a reason to keep looking.
